Li Zicheng was a Chinese peasant rebel leader who rose during the late Ming Dynasty, leading a major revolt that eventually captured Beijing in 1644, causing the suicide of the last Ming emperor. He briefly declared himself emperor of the Shun Dynasty before being defeated by a coalition of Ming loyalists and Manchus.
