In the past, many shrines were established in Taiwan, but after the departure of the Japanese government, these shrines gradually declined and were converted into temples. However, many Komainu statues remained, quitely residing in the newly transformed temple grounds, continuing to protect the people of Taiwan.
Guardian Beast refer to the loyal protectors often seen in Taiwanese traditional beliefs. Some guard temples, other preserve history, some calm strong winds, and others have served under different religious beliefs. These guardian beasts silently safeguard people across Taiwan.
